Dr. James J. Bendell was born in Vancouver, B.C. He completed his Ph.D. in Reproductive Biology at the University of Toronto and his M.D. and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. During medical training Dr. Bendell obtained additional skills in minimally invasive surgery, fertility as well as urogynecology (bladder leakage and pelvic organ support problems).

Throughout his career Dr. Bendell has been involved with women’s issues in both volunteer and professional capacities. Along with memberships in numerous medical societies Dr. Bendell served for three years as the honorary chairman of the Lagrange March of Dimes Walk America. Dr. Bendell’s volunteer activities also include serving as the medical consultant for a local women’s rehabilitation facility and a home/shelter for abused women.
Dr. Bendell has been granted the status of Assistant Professor with Augusta and Mercer and Augusta University and volunteers as an instructor for nurses, nurse practitioners and medical students. He is currently immediate past Chief of Staff and Chair of the Robotics Committee at Wellstar West Georgias Hospital where he served, and serves, on multiple committees.
Dr. Bendell and his family live in the woods of West Georgia and manage a small farm with lots of assorted of animals. Leslie, Dr. Bendell’s wife of more than 30 years, is an avid cook and outdoors-man. Leslie is a Master Gardener and gives monthy presentations to the community through her horticultural platform “Oasis”. Leslie and James have three wonderful children, Calem, Rhyse and Shae.
